OSHA Forklift Violations

The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) has a published a list of common citations that they write for their Powered Industrial Truck Standard 1910.178

OSHA mandated that all new forklift operators must be trained, regardless of experience. All forklift operators, regardless of experience, must be evaluated for competency at least every three years. The rule requires that forklift training be specific to the equipment you operate and specific to the conditions under which the equipment is operated (site specific).

Failure to meet the standard can result in fines up to $70,000.
