Eyewash Station - Portable 16
Gallon
Eyewash
stations can help in the event of an eye injury at work. More than 2,000 people injure their eyes at work
each day. About 1 in 10 injuries require one or more missed workdays to recover from.
The financial cost
of these injuries is enormous -- more than $300 million per year in lost production time, medical expenses, and
workers compensation. No dollar figure can adequately reflect the personal toll these accidents take on the
injured workers.
Eyewash stations
must be situated in working environments where employees may be exposed to harmful chemicals and near
forklift battery charging stations.
Accidents do happen, and
immediate access to Eyewash stations at the time of exposure is critical in preventing eye injuries. Eye Wash
stations are designed to immediately flush contaminants out of the eyes after exposure. Emergency Eyewash
Stations should be located in high-risk areas, no more than 25 feet (10 seconds) from areas where acids or other
corrosive materials are in use. This advice is enforced by OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.151
The lack of an emergency eyewash
station is one of the top OSHA Citations. Protect employees as required by law and guard against personal
injury claims.
